Literary Agent

Our Strategy & Services Department is specifically resourced to support bestselling publications and advise on author branding. Around the world, our authors’ works have been translated into more than 30 languages and their film adaptations have yielded close to $1 billion. Purpose: Boutique literary agency is hiring a Senior Literary Agent.
Your Profile:
The right candidate has been working as a full-time agent for 5+ years, with demonstrated success partnering with authors in Adult and/or YA and Children’s books. PFLM values colleagues who draw from a diversity of personal and professional experiences and are passionate about every aspect of representing career authors.
Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation: $100-$300K draw commensurate with agent’s current client list.
PFLM provides medical with premium paid by PFLM, vision and dental insurance also available with partial premium paid by PFLM. We also have a 401(k) plan after 1 full year of employment. This employee has 23 days of paid vacation, 10 holidays + 1 floating holiday, Summer Fridays 9-1 from Memorial Day-Labor Day.

Purpose:
The Strategy and Services Coordinator will provide in-person day-to-day administrative support for two executives as well as coordinate all meetings and materials for the SSD department, and work with authors and their teams on all publication strategy and plans including, cover design, marketing, publicity, sales, distribution, licensing, website, social media, newsletter, partnerships, contract negotiation, film/tv development and rollout, etc). This is a great opportunity for a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment that is home to many bestselling authors across fiction, nonfiction and children’s.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provides extensive administrative support, including scheduling meetings, department note-taking, preparing presentations and documents, and circulating materials for approval:
- Handles all scheduling requests and coordinating two executive professional/personal calendars;
- Client management and support: corresponds directly with authors and their teams, publishers, retailers, outside brands, movie studios/steamers, etc.;
- Assists with creation of department resources, including competitive landscape, informational materials, brand decks, etc.;
- Reviews and revises copy for marketing and sales materials (such as flap copy or online copy.);
- Creates and reviews internal sales reports;
- Assists with various aspects of title marketing campaigns and content development alongside publisher and/or authors team;
- Communicates extensively with other internal departments at PFLM including agents, foreign rights, and business affairs;
- Reviews royalty statements and sales information.
Your Profile:
- 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience;
- Minimum 2 years’ work experience, via internship or employment;
- Background in the entertainment field preferred, with experience in publishing, marketing, licensing, or retail/sales given preference;
- Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills;
- Social media and tech savvy;
- Exceptional attention-to-detail and ability to multi-task;
- Self-motivated with a “figure it out” mentality;
- Motivated to brainstorm ideas and ways to grow and improve sales and exposure for authors;
- Utilizes tact, discretion and good judgment at all times, especially when exposed to confidential or sensitive material;
- Personable, emotionally mature, and professional, with a positive attitude and ability to adapt and “roll with it”;
- Resourceful and solution-focused with the ability to work effectively with a myriad of personalities;
- Desire to learn and try new things;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation: $55-$65K, plus annual discretionary bonus.
