Stefan Timmermans, Ph.D.

Stefan Timmermans is a professor of sociology at UCLA. In August 2019, he received his field’s highest award, the Lifetime Distinguished Scholarship award in medical sociology. The author of five well-received academic books and countless influential articles, Dr. Timmermans has given keynote addresses and invited lectures to clinical, social science, and general audiences around the world and is regularly cited in popular outlets such as the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, NPR, Wall Street Journal, and The Guardian.

His book THE UNCLAIMED, co-authored with Pamela J. Prickett, a deeply reported investigation of the lives of the unclaimed dead in Los Angeles, poses new and pressing questions about where we’re headed as a society, and what we owe each other, to be published by Crown.
