Muzoon Almellehan

Muzoon Almellehan is a Syrian refugee and education activist. She has been campaigning for children’s education in emergencies since she was forced to flee Syria in 2013.

Muzoon began advocating for girls’ education as part of a UNICEF-supported back-to-school campaign, during which she went tent to tent, speaking with the parents of children at risk of child marriage or early labor.

Since then, Muzoon has been recognized by the BBC’s list of 100 inspirational and innovative women, Time Magazine’s 30 Most Influential Teens, and Teen Vogue’s 21 Under 21. In 2017, Muzoon received the Glamour Women of the Year Award.

We currently welcome queries only by email.

Please specify the first and last name of the agent to whom you are submitting, as well as the category and genre of your submission (i.e.: “Sarah Passick – Adult Nonfiction” or “Pete Knapp – YA Fantasy”) in the subject line of the email. Due to the volume of email queries we receive, we will only respond if we are interested.

For adult fiction submissions, please include a query letter and approximately the first 25 pages of your work. For YA & children’s fiction submissions, please include a query letter and the first chapter or approximately the first ten pages of your work. For non-fiction submissions, please send a query letter. We do not review poetry or screenplays.

For graphic novel submissions, please submit a query letter and attach a low-res sample of your graphic novel + links to your portfolio OR attach a pitch packet as a PDF.
